chat suggestion

to be quick and to the point: irc sucks. it really needs a noise when people send messages as about 90% of things said gets ignore and people end up leaving and the place is dead.(that and the java app crashes my browser.)

there are some other chat systems that can be used though. other possible chat ideas include flashchat (not sure if its possible to integrate with this forum), xat, and userplane (people tend to have issues with the last one though)

edit: ok so maybe saying the chat needs to be replaced isnt a "minor" suggestion.

mIRC is free for download if you wish to use another option. That java chat is just part of the MKPortal homepage. It's all we've got for the foreseeable future.

If anyone wants to use mIRC or Trillian, the channel is to be found on the Rizon server at #AnimeGirlDesp2009.

hmm, well using pigdin fixes the message beep. now you just need people to actually talk in there and stay.

(also just a note the other chat systems are free if that is a concern)

I think the solution to this problem is to not use a web client. Any halfway decent desktop IRC client has options to beep or flash when new messages are received.
