BDSM is easy, it's about a relinquishing of control and someone else taking total control. You either want to be in control or want to be controlled. The relationship is based on trust, and in this case the person in question receiving the pain likes it for some reason, perhaps for their sins or what have you. The most common explanation is that after a certain pain threshold your body releases something akin to morphine, which provides a great high. Think a full-bodied runner's high.

As for the Domination aspect, it's being in total control of someone else. And you can't say you don't see the bright side in that. Knowing that you have control over what this person feels or does not, will or will not, is a massive turn on for some people. And as for inflicting the pain, well, some people just like doing it to show their love to someone who 'deserves' (read: wants) it.

I asked my shrink about the natural disasters one and he said most fetishes have to work around something tangible, but a person getting off to the idea of destroyed houses and general mayhem through a natural disaster is plausible.
