Gif Animation

So I kept on seeing Fallen's Animated Avatar, and then I destroyed my nutbladder watching Hidamari Sketch's new season, so I decided to make a gif. As you can see in my sig, I eventually (read: about 4 hours later) managed to make something using ffdshow's grab function (part of cccp) and a free image editing program called "GIMP."

I was basically wondering for those with animated avatars/sigs if you made them yourself, and if so using what? Now that I've made one I could see myself making more too, it was somewhat satisfying somehow...

Also, I think I meant YOUR avatar, not fallen's. I was sick for the last few days, and must have (somehow) miss-read or...something.

Also, after playing around and (mostly) figuring out how to make the gif, I found this tutorial that helped me figure out the one or two things I was missing. http://whiteopal.wordpress.com/2009/02/05/making-gif-animations-with-gimp/

I make my gifs using Adobe Fireworks, and I shorten my clips using SUPER converter which can also break media down into frame by frame images at a user specified frame rate, if I'm not making my own content.

Agreed about the Major. Also, I have no idea how you got such a large gif to continue to run at what seems to be full speed. Hmm.
