I life the webcomic Misfile. and I admit the thing that grabbed my attention was the pot-smoking angel. I also like Antiseptic poetry.

You're asking me to pick a favorite? Just one? How cruel! I love all my webcomics as though they were my own flesh and blood!

(Okay, maybe that was lies and treachery. Or at least gross exaggeration.)

Still, it's hard...my answer for today is... *struggle* Girly (http://www.girlyyy.com). Although if I had posted on another day, I might have said any one of Gunnerkrigg Court (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com), YU+ME (http://rosalarian.com/yume), or Girl Genius (http://www.girlgeniusonline.com). Maybe you can find a common theme among all my favorite webcomics?

My favorite comic that still updates would have to be Errant Story (http://errantstory.com/), with Sinfest (http://www.sinfest.net/) coming in a close second

My favorite that doesn't update very often is Tomoyo 42's Room (http://manga.clone-army.org/t42r.php?lang=&page=90). The artist, Dan, is one sick little monkey.

tough choice, but my favorite would be Cyanide and Happiness.  This fills my dark sense of humor usually left unshown.
Note: don't read if you don't have a dark sense of humor.  You have been warned...

My favorite comic? hmmm... I have to go with Doctor McNinja (http://drmcninja.com/index.html) followed closly by Drowtales. (http://www.drowtales.com/index.php) In Dr. McNinja, The main character is both a doctor and a ninja, going around on various adventures, like beating up Ronald McDonald, punching dinosaurs in the face and killing pirates with frozen shamrocks. Not only is it really funny, but it makes you realize things points of view that are so bizarre, that they might be true.
I like Drowtales because of the fact that not only does it update six times a week, the art is really well done, and I really connect with the characters.

For a long time, my favorite comic was one called "All Roses Have Thorns", but lately nothing much has been coming of it, so I really don't have a favorite one right now.  Although http://www.bobandgeorge.com/ is really funny if you like Megaman.  Very creative use of sprites.

My favorite is "Mega Tokyo" (http://www.megatokyo.com/). I've followed it since the beginning, and even though it doesn't have a firm update schedule, I love the crazy story lines and the characters...Largo's antics are especially hilarious.

"Questionable Content" (http://www.questionablecontent.net). I've gotten hooked on it after a friend showed it to me, and now its one of my favorites. Its a good "Slice of Life" comic.

It doesn't have a running story which a lot of what was posted seems to have, but my favorite would have to be Penny Arcade. I know the characters are half-fictional, but they make a great gay man....something man comedy duo, I forget what the second one's supposed to be. And I just the dry cynical humor.

The only one I knew about before reading this topic was Sexy Losers (and maybe VGcats).  There was this one comic on Sexy Losers where the woman had to pee during oral sex and when she lost it and peed into the guy's mouth, he was thrilled as hell, even though she was disgusted by what she had done.

Little Gamers (Little-Gamers.com) is by far my favorite comic so far on the web still going, but an honorable mention goes to Last Days of Foxhound (gigaville.com) for their awesomely funny interpretation of the mgs universe.

On a scale of 1-10, this thread fails pretty hard.  Seriously, Jay Naylor?  Don't post about that neocon asshole on my board.

Also, Megatokyo?  Seriously?  Generic gaijin fantasy told through sketches?

And of course, CAD, "drawn" by Tim "B^U" Buckley.  Enhh.

Time to post some real Webcomics.

Like Minus!  Minus is a fantastic watercolor comic, styled after the classic newspaper strips from the first half of the 20th century.  However, with beautiful color, and an adorable protagonist, Minus may outrank them all.  It can be read at http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus.html (http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus.html).

Also, Dinosaur Comics, which I couldn't do justice with any sort of description.  Check it out if you like weird, off-beat stuff.  It's located at http://www.qwantz.com/ (http://www.qwantz.com/).

Also, xkcd, a geeky but fun little strip.  Check it out if you don't mind stick figures.  It's at http://www.xkcd.com/ (http://www.xkcd.com/).

Try harder next time guys, come on.

(I wasn't going to comment about Megatokyo and CAD.)

MaidThree knows what's good, I think! Minus is undeniably awesome; it's a shame it's over... Dinosaur Comics is astonishingly well written, especially considering its basic premise and the fact that it's updated every weekday. XKCD has been pretty hit-or-miss for me lately, but where it's good, it can be downright brilliant.

Buttlord GT was, in my opinion, an absolute winner. It's since finished it's run, but pure pisstake from beginning to end. Then again, most atomictoy comics are gold.

http://www.atomictoy.org/comics/buttlordgt/buttlordgt.html

Or, if you want currently running comics, Pokey The Penguin is a surreal non sequiter comic thats simply insane.

http://www.yellow5.com/pokey/archive/

My favourite Pokey comic is this one http://www.yellow5.com/pokey/archive/index62.html

Anyway, my two cents.

I used to read a lot of webcomics a while back, but now am kinda in the habit of waiting about 2-3 months then reading all the comics at once.

The only one i've really kept up with is VGcats, super effective and Order of the Stick which despite having never played or even watched a single game of D&D my entire life, still get plenty of the jokes and find the story interesting.

I used to keep up with CAD, until the whole miscarriage thing.

Try Erfworld - a little comical, but a serious, interesting story if you can get past the comical :)

I'm reading xkcd and penny-arcade but my current favorite is thenoobcomic, a weekly strip about a noob playing the latest and greatest mmorpg "clichequest". It has several paralell story arcs that make following what's going on kind of complicated, but it's always fun to read and the pictures are full of little side jokes that are easy to miss.  A must-read for every gamer :)

I'd have to agree with that choice. I too have a dark sense of humour and some days cyanide and happiness makes me lol. Another good choice would be www.xkcd.com , they have good comics, like cyanide and happiness, but it had already been posted

I'm more of a manga person instead of american comics.  I read my fair share of the mainstream stories, but time to time I'll introduce myself to random manga's from the long list the website I go to has.

Not so much an online comic, but more a comic that's been archived online by its creators. It's an adventure comic that came out in the late 70's that broke the mold as far as comics then went. The issues have since been reprinted and coloured, but the story is the same, and it's one heck of a story. The characters are deep and likeable, the art quality is great, and it's generally a quality piece of work.

Well, it would seem that most of my favorites have already been mentioned; let me see if there's anything else...

Exploitation now is a great classic, as is Sexy Losers.  Overcompensating is almost always great.  PHD comics is great if you're at all considering getting one.  I think chugworth still deserves at least some mention.

However, when it comes to the topic of favorites, I have to go with Penny Arcade.  The polished, professional care taken with every individual strip is just amazing.  Listen to some podcasts for a glimpse at the effort that goes into simply scripting each comic.  Penny Arcade is the only webcomic that I would truly consider professional.

I'm pretty fond of Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire. It has a pretty good story, and more than its fair share of awful puns. What more can you ask for?

http://www.dominic-deegan.com

Aside from that... hm, there are a couple of other good comics I can think of. Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal updates daily, and is generally pretty funny.

http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db=comics&id=1#comic

Then there's Narbonic, a comic which has pretty much finished its run, but is definitely worth checking out all the same, especially if you like mad scientists.

http://www.webcomicsnation.com/shaenongarrity/narbonic/series.php?view=archive&chapter=9763

And uh... if you count MS Paint Adventures as a webcomic (which it sort-of is... you'd have to check it out to see) then that is absolutely awesome, too! If you haven't already seen it, then you should probably start with problem sleuth.

edit, I'm an idiot. Link to MSPA - http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=4

That's all I can think of offhand...

One of my friends writes a videogame based online comic, if someone wants I can link it.
Apart from this, I LOVE Eddsworld. Each absurd character is terribly similar to how me and my friends act when we're together.
(I don't know if I can consider Eddsworld a comic, because it's more famous for the youtube flash videos... ò_ò)

(Relatively) simple artwork but huge on jokes/plot, especially MSPA looking like a text-based game.

Anything and everything by K.C. Green. He is the king of web comics for me and that shall never change.

I also recommend to anyone; a comic called Freakangels. I won't tell you the plot but it is written and drawn by professionals so it is at a different standard to most web comics.

I used to be a really big fan of the comic "All Roses Have Thorns", but lately I haven't been looking at much.  One good one, though, is called "Ever After", really messed up story about fairy tales.  It hardly updates however, which is a shame.

A neat comic where each strip is based (loosely) on actual historical events. The art style seems kind of sloppy at first, but after reading it for a while I appreciated the looseness and expressiveness that's missing from a lot of tablet-drawn comics (cough cad cough).

What a bizarre one you have there. So far I've seen a mix of Elfen Lied and Gunslinger Girl, and some girl named "Yuka" who might have been from Persona 3 or something. Do they keep mixing more animes or are those the only ones?
I think once you get past that they stop and continue with the story it is really good once you get to the end, when i first read it I got a mixed feeling of depressed yet entertain (in a humorous way I didn't know another word for it)
but yeah the ending is the best I've seen in a story-line webcomic

I'm following XKCD and a German comic called "Nichtlustig" ("Notfunny") - there's a book out sold internationally (in English) - if you see it anywhere, check it out. It's a short, concise, and sometimes quite stupid humor, but the sheer slam-your-head-against-the-wall-stupidity of it sometimes hits the spot  :icon_twisted:

I don't really read much in the way of online comics, but Cyanide & Happiness is pretty good. I like offbeat, wacky humor and C&H fits that bill quite well. At my old job, several employees had C&H strips posted on their walls, which is how I initially found out about it.

The stuff that the Clone Army guy does creeps the hell out of me. He's an amazingly talented artist, but seems to focus all his efforts on drawing very young girls in bizarre, hyper-violent/sexual situations. His work in general just disturbs me.

Several of my favorites have been mentioned, such as Brawl in the Family, C&H and SMBC, Flipside... But I'll recommend some of my other favorites!

Nedroid Picture Diary (aka Beartato) - Absurd, simple yet beautiful and somehow always funny. http://nedroid.com/

Awkward Zombie - Video game parodies that ARE funny and aren't hamhanded, plus a lot of self-deprecating humor by a young lady who just entered college. http://www.awkwardzombie.com/index.php

Perry Bible Fellowship - Short comics, but surreal, absurd and hilarious. It has now ended (or updates every once in a blue moon), but there are plenty of comics to read. http://pbfcomics.com/

Truck Bearing Kibble - A comic very similar in humor style to PBF, but also updates very irregularly. http://truckbearingkibble.com/

Lackadaisy - 1920s speakeasy drama and comedy - with cats! For those who aren't so fond of furries, it's more Disney-style talking animals than furries. http://www.lackadaisycats.com/

Dinosaur Comics and Thinkin' Lincoln are a great source of laughs for me, as is Married to the Sea.

I like the absurd-styled webcomics more than the long, over-arching plot ones (which is why CAD and Penny Arcade have never appealed.)

My favorite has to be Order of the Stick.  It's a comedy/parody of Dungeons and Dragons.  You follow around this group of adventurers that live in a world where Dungeons and Dragons rules apply to the laws of physics, like you have to perform checks in order to do actions.

It's hosted at Giant in the Playground dot com, and it's really fantastic.  You guys should check it out sometime.
